From Wiki in Africa
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This Wikibase hosts a structured, collaborative repository of learning materials created by and for Wiki In Africa over more than ten years of capacity-building work across the continent. It brings together training resources spanning across Wikimedia projects, skills, formats, and languages into a single, queryable knowledge base compiled on the Wikimedia tool forge

Purpose

  • To document and preserve the training materials Wiki In Africa has produced for African Wikimedians, educators, and communities.
  • To make these resources discoverable and reusable through structured metadata (campaign, skill, material type, language, country, and more) rather than scattered files or slide decks.
  • To support ongoing training and capacity-building efforts by giving trainers, learners, and partner organizations a single point of access to vetted materials.

"To map Wiki In Africa's global network of people, affiliates, funders, and partners, using the same structured, queryable approach to make the organization's reach and collaborations visible and explorable.

How it works

Each learning resource is stored as an Item, described using a dedicated property schema (P1–P19) covering details such as resource URL, campaign, Wikimedia project, skill, material type, media format, language, creator, publication year, topic, review status, offline usability, country, and role. Data from this Wikibase powers a public-facing homepage with SPARQL-driven resource cards, available at: our Github and Tool forge
